Who Can We Help?

There are 3 different types of groups Confidential Intermediaries (CIs) may assist:

  1.  The following members of the adoption triad:
  • An adoptee who is at least 18 years old and born in Arizona.
  • Either of the birth parents of an adoptee who was born in Arizona.
  • The adoptive parents of an adoptee who is at least 18 years old, or, if the adoptive parents are deceased, the adoptee’s guardian.
  • If the birth parents of an adoptee are deceased, the parents of the birth parent.
  • If an adoptee is deceased, the adoptee’s spouse if the spouse is the legal parent or guardian of any child of the adoptee.
  • If an adoptee is deceased, any child of the adoptee who is at least 18 years old.
  • A biological sibling of an adoptee if the sibling is at least 18 years old.

Although a search may be initiated by someone who is at least 18 years of age, CIs may not search for anyone under the age of 21.

  1.  Adoptees searching for medical information by court order, regardless of age.
  2.  The following groups via the Sibling Information Exchange (SIX) program:
  • Former dependent child who is at least 18 years old.
  • Former dependent child who is age 17 or under. Must include participation from adoptive parent, guardian or biological parent if he or she has legal custody and is not involved in a current juvenile court dependency case.
  • At least 18 years old and a the sibling of a former dependent child.

NOTE: AZAA IS NOT ACCEPTING SIBLING INFORMATION EXCHANGE (SIX) CASES AT THIS TIME.
